Getting the MOST from Your Massage

The way you care for yourself after your massage is very important and can greatly enhance your experience.

HYDRATE
Drinking at least half your body weight in ounces for two days after your session will help you flush any toxins that are released and optimize the detoxifying effect of a massage.

SOAK
A bath in Epsom salts (about 1 C. in a bath) is beautiful follow up. The sulfur and magnesium in Epsom salts will encourage further muscle relaxation and circulation and enhance the cleansing effect of your massage. It also just feels great!

ICE
After a deep tissue massage, muscles can be a little tender.  This is a normal result of accessing deep layers of muscle tissue and working intensively. Icing any tender spots after your session can help speed your overall healing process. That being said, your deep tissue massage should not be painful. Please communicate with your therapist during your session if the pressure is excessive.  Generally, it is a great practice to apply a little ice to overworked muscle groups on a regular basis to sooth inflammation and encourage fresh blood supply.

REGULARITY
Any massage is better than no massage, but there are definite physical and psychological benefits to receiving regular work.
